Write the Montgomery County School Board and Superintendent

What excites you most about Brickyard Educational Farm and the vision that they are putting forth for Montgomery County Public School students? Write the Montgomery County School Board and share your excitement with them!

Is it the organic soil that will help teach children about the importance of sustainable farming practices, and how organic farming equals healthy bodies and a healthy planet?

Is it the role that seed saving will play in the future of food in the United States, and the importance of the urban fringe that surrounds Brickyard Educational Farm, in preserving Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) - FREE seeds for future generations?

Is it experiential learning, that gets kids out of the classroom and on to the farm, where they can develop and retain important lessons about community, nutrition and global food issues.

While you are at it, why not let  the Montgomery County Superintendent know how lucky our school system is to have such an educational treasure within 10 miles of 67 public schools?

Of course, hand written correspondences to our elected officials and their staff are always a way to show dedication. Please take the time to write the Montgomery County School Board and Superintendent Starr to let them know how very important this is to you.

save the brickyard soil/farming project

Please save the Brickyard Educational Farm, it is more important than any soccer field/parking lot. It is important to teach our children where and how our food is grown instead of them thinking it comes from a supermarket. With our country and it's out of control Obesity, Diabetes and Cancer rates shooting out of control it's important we teach our kids the importance of putting there hands back in the soil and getting dirty. Soccer fields won't save the human race some day but learning to grow your own healthy non-GMO organic food just might.

Our children need more soccer fields. The fields will be used by soccer organizations throughout the county to support sportsmanship and teach kids the joys of soccer.

I will need to put a first and last name to the post in order to let it remain up. It is important to us that all viewpoints are heard, so please share your name so we can start a discussion. Looking forward to it.

Loads of soccer fields in Mont. co. not one place for kids to learn/experience sustainable agriculture at a true producing organic farm such that is Brick Yard Educational. This really is a no "brain-er".Please support Brick Yard Ed.

Why build yet another soccer field? That is DAMAGING to the environment, takes away the ONLY heritage seed organic farm in the county and this could be something to teach the children something very important to our planet and the environment which is already in peril. It is the organic soil that will help teach children about the importance of sustainable farming practices, and how organic farming equals healthy bodies and a healthy planet. I have been a county resident for 30 years and can always remember this WONDERFUL farm that I drove by. Beautiful area and we don't want another SOCCER field in our neighborhood!

Soccer is great for kids. So is connecting with the outdoors, learning about organic farming and the "other" non-urbanized Montgomery County which is under so much pressure and which most kids never experience except glimpsed through a car window. Our county is big enough and our residents wise enough to have both Nick's Organic Farm and soccer fields.
In addition, it takes many years to build up organic soil in one location. This in itself is a treasure that I believe the Montgomery County School Board can and should protect for everyone's best interest.
